++++ In her photographs and films, Faust constructs narratives that combine the coldness of the staged action and its underlying emotion. Faust works in the intermediate space between the real and its re-presentation. By means of careful observation of the ways of life in different communities and their re-creation and citation by the camera, the gestures and movements defining characters are cut off from the actions, while they tell of the place in which they are performed. MY PRIVATE SATELLITE was filmed in Neu-Allermöhe, a new suburb built on a drained fen. For some months the team witnessed the start of this community - all beginners - by shadowing individual people, after which they developed the script. (Nuria Enguita Mayo)
