++++ The early works of Halil Altindere are marked by a playful resistance against the repressive regimes of representation of the Turkish State. His minute manipulations of official documents such as banknotes, stamps and ID cards aimed at ridiculing and subverting the official strategies of fixation. Recently, his works display a visible turn from the constraints of representational politics towards an employment of enabling moments in everyday life and the humorous codes of subcultures in Istanbul.
