Manifesta, the European Biennial of Contemporary
Art, is initiated and supported by the International Foundation Manifesta (IFM).
The International Foundation Manifesta, a non-profit organization with its office
in Amsterdam, guarantees the independence, integrity and continuity of Manifesta
by developing and maintaining a support structure for all the art professionals
involved. It strives to:
- stimulate Manifesta’s European network as a medium for person-to-person
contacts and stimulate the flow of information between all parties.
- ensure the continuity and maintenance of working contacts between previous,
current and future host cities, as a crucial means of maintaining the credibility
of the network
- ensure the efficient use of, and public access to, information gathered
from successive editions of Manifesta
- develop an examplary information resource centre, in addition to servicing
the various branches of Manifesta and promoting and stimulating the in-depth
research into contemporary art processes
- ensure the smooth execution of each Manifesta edition and all related
events coming under the umbrella of the IFM
The Board of the IFM is composed of experienced experts from the European
art world. Basic tasks of the Board include the selection of each host city,
advising on the choice of curators and control of the election procedure.
