++++ One device of Olivier Bardin is to construct a situation which compels the person who has entered into it to act, to take decisions that, for both parties, will give rise to representations. It is also a kind of trap into which the participants are led somewhere, without knowing really where or how. Under the scalpel eye of the camera, the set functions as the place where our social identity is projected in slow motion. The idea is to use language to materialise the specific ‘consistency’ of each individual: their own particular way of existing. (Jean-Christophe Royoux)
