++++ Paragliding is pure form that manifests itself in action. The pilot is motor (by his own weight) and mind, he himself a machine, as a sail, as the wind and the rising currents. It is this, a wonderful image of the union between human as habitant and nature as a residence, in a word: Justice. (Massimo Bartolini)

++++ Massimo Bartolini creates real physical environments while being uniquely capable of relating them to some superior worlds. His installations include a special use of light and often sound. They are indeed rooms and spaces that, however, have immense tactile power. After the artist has created them, there appears a strange combination between the objective reality of the world we exist in and a ‘breakout’ into some ideal world. The co-existence of the cosy and the sublime in one installation turns into a metaphor of the imagination illuminating personal dreams, memories, obsessions and nostalgia. While utilising a space with unclear or forgotten purpose inside the Frankensteiner Hof venue, Massimo Bartolini is constructing a poetic and evocative image which is a counterpoint to the currently popular artistic practice of providing direct references.
