++++ The installation CULTURE PARK is a commentary on the changes in the perception and use of European cities during the last decade which is rich in references. The creeping transformation of historical city centres from an arena of social representation used by a mixed populace into a controlled area of experience for recreation and consumerism forms the backdrop for Fogarasi’s set-up. Today cities complete like companies for tourists and a well-heeled populace. CULTURE PARK investigates this competitive struggle, its media strategies and real effects on urban space by employing various motifs: urban design and spatial figures with a decidedly cultural use play the main roles in Fogarasi’s formally concentrated analysis.
