++++ Monika Sosnowska works with architecture, probably the most stabile creation of the human hand. Her interventions in architectural reality are producing disturbances in the visitors’ perceptions. She rearranges the sense of orientation by confusing and forcing the corporeal and visual sensation and experience of the visitor. By multiplying the possibilities of the pre-given dimensions, she mocks the logic of movement inside a room. It seems that the artist loves to work on what is commonly referred to as ‘site-specific projects’. However, the results of her work are often ironic comments on ‘specificity’ and its highlights through the re-articulation of its obvious limitations. Keeping the memory of doll’s houses or stage backdrops, her installations suggest allusions and references without insisting on a specific and definitive discourse. (Iara Boubnova)
